Is there legitimate data entry work?
December 11, 2009 – 8:46 amYes there are some legitimate data entry jobs, and even some that you can work from home. They are few and far between though. There may be data entry work however, but there are many scams out there and it might take a lot of time weeding through it. There is a lot of interest in working from home. I know I worked from home for a while for one company that I worked for in the past. The fact is it is better for the company to have employees work from home; however they have a hard time getting past old ways. The bosses want to see their employees at work.
I guess what I am saying is even if there are real jobs out there, they are hard to find.
Most people that are looking for work from home spend a lot of time searching job listings and doing searches on the internet. You might join a job social network. Remember again there are many scams.
I am not sure if it is a scam but many companies on the internet want you to pay for training and then get some work before you get a lot of work. I for one would never pay for a job. Recruiters get paid from the companies they find people to work for. It sounds to me like they are getting money from both ends.
In my personal experience working from home, I broke a leg and had to stay at home. My employer did not want me to lose work and frankly I did not either. I had almost everything I needed to work from home already so it was easy for me. Other people work some time from home and some from the office. It all depends on the employer; they are in no way responsible to accommodate an employee unless stated in a contract.
Finally let’s face it most data entry jobs are now either work at home or outsourced to another country such as India. Yes I did some simple searches for “data entry work” and in the top four results, two were work in India. I looked at them quick and found that they want college grads working for them and that they do a pretty good job. Searching in the search engines and job sites like Monster and Hot jobs is going to come up with 100s or even 1000s of listings of which most of them are going to be a scam. Remember if they ask for money from you up front they are a scam.
